Stephen Ursprung is an Associate Professor of Dance Studies at Dean College in Franklin, MA. Beyond his teaching duties, he serves as the chair of the college’s Curriculum Committee and has devoted his time to decolonizing and diversifying his curricula and teaching dance in a culturally responsive way. Outside of Dean, Stephen is a member of the Core Network of Dancing Legacy, with whom he has taught and performed since 2014. In his role as a Core Network member, Stephen served on faculty several times at the New York State Summer School for the Arts (NYSSSA) School of Dance in Saratoga Springs, NY, was an artist in residence at the BAK Middle School for the Arts in West Palm Beach, FL, and has staged Repertory Etudes at Brown University, Central Falls High School, and with various professional dancers throughout New York and New England. Since 2019, he has been a guest teaching for Dancing Legacy at the Fusionworks Dance Center in Lincoln, RI.
Stephen is a member of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) and is on the Board of Directors for the American College Dance Association (ACDA) representing the New England region. He teaches master classes and is available as a curricular development consultant.
